Dr. Mayer is Director of the Neurological Intensive Care Unit at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center. Dr. Mayer has published more than 450 journal articles, books, case reports, book chapters, and abstracts. He was principal investigator of the FAST Trial, a worldwide multicenter clinical trial evaluating ultra-early hemostatic therapy for brain hemorrhage, and is principal investigator of the NIH-funded New York Presbyterian Hospital hub of the Neurological Emergencies Treatment Trials network. He also serves as director of the Columbia University Subarachnoid Hemorrhage Outcomes Project, and is active in research related to therapeutic hypothermia, neurocardiac injury, status epilepticus, and multimodality monitoring
